Cinematic

Mood-led cinematic pipeline for trailers, brand films, montages, explicit 3D-world fly-throughs, and short-form dramatic edits. Works best with supplied footage, stills, or source media, and can optionally use generated support visuals for gap filling or concept-led inserts. EP orchestration adds quality gates for emotional pacing, color consistency, and audio dynamics.

Stages

The agent reads each stage's director skill before working, then writes a checkpoint. Stages marked pause for your approval before the production continues.

  1. 1

    Research

    Auto checkpoint

    openmontage/skills/pipelines/cinematic/research-director.md

    • research_brief

    Tools

    • web_search

    Review focus

    • Visual references are specific and relevant to the mood
    • Sound and music direction is substantive, not generic
    • Motion commitment is honest about available capabilities
    • At least 3 genuinely different cinematic directions identified

    Success criteria

    • Schema-valid research_brief artifact
    • At least 8 web searches executed
    • Visual references include specific URLs and descriptions

    None — agent reasoning only

    Review focus

    • Source mode and emotional arc are clear
    • Motion-required delivery is explicitly identified when applicable
    • Delivery shape is realistic for available footage and assets
    • Cinematic treatment is justified rather than decorative

    • Renderer family is selected and locked
    • Music plan is resolved

    Success criteria

    • Schema-valid proposal_packet artifact
    • At least 3 concept options with different emotional arcs
    • Delivery promise present with motion_required flag
    • Cost estimate includes per-item breakdown
  3. 3

    • Script sections map to identifiable cinematic beats
  4. 4

    Scene Plan

    Human approval

    openmontage/skills/pipelines/cinematic/scene-director.md

    Assets

    Human approval

    openmontage/skills/pipelines/cinematic/asset-director.md

    Produces

    • asset_manifest

    • Motion-required beats use actual video clips rather than still-image substitutes
    • Music and ambience plan matches the beat map
    • Optional generated inserts stay limited and justified
    • Explicit 3D worlds preserve one coherent scene graph across global, regional, and walk views
    • Hero 3D worlds use the production fidelity tier with licensed textured models and PBR terrain layers; primitive-only blockouts cannot pass

    Success criteria

    • Schema-valid asset_manifest artifact
    • All referenced asset files exist on disk
  6. 6

    Edit

    • Motion-required delivery was preserved without silent fallback
    • Audio dynamics are controlled and intelligible
    • Letterbox or frame treatment improves rather than harms the output
    • render_runtime in edit_decisions matches proposal_packet — silent swap is a CRITICAL governance violation
    • Cinematic work typically picks render_runtime='remotion' (CinematicRenderer) for video-led pieces; render_runtime='hyperframes' for kinetic title cards and HTML/GSAP-driven trailers

    Success criteria

    • Schema-valid render_report artifact
    • Output file exists and passes ffprobe validation
